How do we work in trauma recovery?

A trauma-informed approach grounds all of our therapy around trauma. So, we tailor our trauma-informed care with a blend of modalities to promote relaxation, self-regulation, and the release of trauma stored in the body. Some of these are Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Techniques, and EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing).

Mindfulness practices promote self-awareness, self-compassion, and present-moment focus. Our counselors incorporate mindfulness techniques into counseling sessions to help you cultivate resilience, manage stress, and develop a deeper understanding of your emotions. More Information on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)

EMDR is a widely recognized therapeutic approach used for the treatment of trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other emotional difficulties. EMDR incorporates elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with bilateral stimulation (such as eye movements, hand taps, or auditory tones) to help individuals reprocess traumatic experiences in a way that allows them to heal and integrate the memories into their life narratives. This process may involve desensitizing the emotional intensity of the memories, identifying and replacing negative beliefs and self-perceptions, and fostering the development of more adaptive and positive beliefs.
