How do we work in trauma recovery?
Our trauma recovery therapy is grounded in a trauma-informed approach. We recognize the impact of trauma on individuals and aim to create a therapeutic environment that promotes safety, choice, collaboration, and empowerment. Our trauma-informed care is mixed with a tailored blend of Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Techniques, EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to promote relaxation, self-regulation, and the release of trauma stored in the body.
Mindfulness practices promote self-awareness, self-compassion, and present-moment focus. Our counselors incorporate mindfulness techniques into counseling sessions to help you cultivate resilience, manage stress, and develop a deeper understanding of your emotions. Mindfulness can be a powerful tool for self-reflection, healing, and embracing the present moment.

More Information on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR is a therapeutic approach that is widely recognized and used for the treatment of trauma, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and other emotional difficulties. EMDR incorporates elements of cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) with bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements, hand taps, or auditory tones, to help individuals reprocess traumatic experiences in a way that allows them to heal and integrate the memories into their life narrative. This process may involve desensitizing the emotional intensity of the memories, identifying and replacing negative beliefs and self-perceptions, and fostering the development of more adaptive and positive beliefs.
**EMDR should ONLY be conducted by a trained and licensed mental health professional who has received specialized training in EMDR therapy. You can read more about EMDR here, or watch a video here.**
